FOUR D\u2019s OF BEHAVIOR:<\/strong> Heart-motivated behaviors that should not be grouped with childish behaviors but should be tended to in a consistent and heart-affecting manner.<\/p>\n

D-1:<\/strong> Disrespect
\nD-2:<\/strong> Disobedience
\nD-3:<\/strong> Deceit
\nD-4:<\/strong> Destruction<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

D-1: Disrespect<\/strong>\u2014words, actions, tone, and\/or expressions that do not show respect or submission to parents.<\/p>\n

D-2: Disobedience<\/strong>\u2014actions that are not fully obedient. Obedience means \u201cDoing what you are told, when you are told, in the way you are told\u2014with a good attitude.\u201d<\/p>\n

D-3: Deceit<\/strong>\u2014lying, stealing, \u201cfibbing,\u201d speaking half truths, and covering for words and actions with \u201cI was joking\u201d or other concealment words.<\/p>\n

D-4: Destruction<\/strong>\u2014purposely breaking things or harming others.<\/p>\n

Treat Behaviors Accordingly<\/strong><\/h3>\n

(1)<\/strong> Foolishness\/Heart Issues\u20144 D\u2019s<\/p>\n

a.<\/strong> Serious Treatment
\nb.<\/strong> Punishment
\nc.<\/strong> Heart Teaching and Training<\/p>\n

(2)<\/strong> Childishness\/Character Issues<\/p>\n

a.<\/strong> Training
\nb.<\/strong> Rewards
\nc.<\/strong> Consequences*<\/p>\n

*Consequences may be used with 4 D\u2019s if parents have waited until child is tween or teen to begin this approach to parenting. If this is the case, the most severe, serious consequences should be reserved for foolishness\/4 D\u2019s.<\/p>\n
