Littles Love Learning

I recently did a Wondering Wednesday video episode about Creating a Love for Learning in Littles. I raised seven children who all loved learning, reading, and their organized daily routines as young children. They looked forward to story time, “school” time, family field trips, and more. There were so many things that came to play to cause this love for learning in our young children that I thought I would put some tips and links all together here in a blog post.

Two Things to Teach Your Kids When They See an Emergency

What To Do When Kids See and Emergency

Fire trucks with sirens blazing. Ambulances whizzing by. Woo-woos (police cars) racing ahead.

When our kids are really little, of course, it was a thrill to hear them say “woo woo” when a police car passed us or “fire truck” when they saw a fire truck.

New words. Attaching meaning. Community workers…oh, I loved having littles.

But as our kids grew up, we attached another important concept to emergency vehicles: someone was hurting somewhere and needed prayer.

Podcast: Faith and Character Building for Littles

Welcome to another Wondering Wednesday podcast episode! In this audio presentation, Donna Reish (of Character Ink Press and Raising Kids With Character) answers questions about faith and character training for young children. Donna begins with the Five W’s and One H of Character Training, reminding parents that we must first have it in our hearts before we can give it to our children. She then delves into laying some foundations with toddlers. Finally, she talks about the four places and times that Deuteronomy tells us to teach our kids God’s Word and ways: when you rise up; when you sit in your house; when you walk by the way; and when you lie down. She gives examples and activities for each time period—focusing on getting to our children’s hearts with unconditional love, intentionality, prioritizing, and selflessness.
